About CELS
Character Education & Life Skills is a local business that champions resilience, confidence and good character as fundamental to the education, wellbeing and future success of young people.
We want to give all children throughout North Wales the opportunity to develop their identity and be able to face life’s challenges and opportunities.

CELS have helped young people throughout North Wales feel more able to face the challenges of growing up in an increasingly complex society. To do this we work with partner schools and local authorities to deliver a programme that was put together by experts in the character education world, head teachers and children. Delivered by strong role models, children enjoy the challenge of the practical sessions with continuous opportunity to review and develop their own personality traits.
Mission
Our goal is to use the knowledge and life experiences of our instructors to help all children explore and develop their character. We passionately believe that when children and young people feel confident, resilient, and understand their self-worth, it greatly increases their chances of leading a happy, fulfilling life.
What do we do?
CELS provides sessions that enhance children's confidence, teamwork skills, and resilience. These are essential abilities for navigating life both within and beyond the school environment, preparing them for various challenges
How do we do it?
An add-on package in sync with the Curriculum for Wales, featuring practical activities and challenges. Delivered by qualified instructors, it focuses on learning through play, fostering both fun and essential skill development. Children enjoy the process, often unaware they're learning due to the engaging theory behind each activity.
Why do we do it?
Every child deserves the best possible start in life. Nurturing essential qualities from an early age empowers children to excel academically and socially, laying a strong foundation for them to realise their full potential
When/Where?
We offer weekly sessions, conducted outdoors, in a school hall, or within the classroom, all during regular school hours. We actively encourage teachers and teaching assistants to participate in these sessions and apply the key qualities learned to enhance their cross-curricular approach
Vision
Our vision is to make the Character Development Award an integral part of school life across North Wales. We are committed to ensuring that every child, in every school, has the chance to experience our transformative programs. We firmly believe that the Character Development Award can help alleviate the pressures faced by today's youth, including addressing issues like obesity, depression, and anxiety. We see pioneering character education alongside the Curriculum for Wales as a key factor in shaping a brighter future for all young people.
Values
At CELS, we firmly believe that instilling a positive set of moral values is fundamental to nurturing children and young individuals, fostering a robust self-belief, and helping them feel comfortable in their own skin. Our philosophy and values are wholeheartedly embraced and promoted, with a commitment to encouraging and respecting all individuals at all times
